- CDC Traveler's Health
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides health information for travelers. From the Traveler's Health Topics find information on Destinations, Diseases, Find a Clinic, Illness & Injury Abroad, Stay Healthy & Safe, Vaccinations, and more.
- The Electronic Embassy
- This site provides contact information in Washington, D.C. for the foreign embassies of the world.
- The Perry-CastaƱeda Library Map Collectiion
- The University of Texas Libraries provides an extensive map collection, most of which are in the public domain. This site includes historical, thematic, and topographical maps in addition to maps of current interest.
- Portals to the World from the Library of Congress
- This site from the Library of Congress is a collection of electronic resources from countries around the world. There is a lot of useful information about each country by topic. The Recreation and Travel link will lead you to information about embassies, tourism offices, and to online travel guides.
- Tourism Offices Worldwide Directory
- Search for tourism offices, convention & visitor bureaus, and chambers of commerce around the world.
- The Travel Channel
- The Travel Channel site provides schedules and information about your favorite travel programs. But in addition, the web site provides access to travel videos, Destination Guides, and the World Hum Travel Blog, a great source for travel stories through writing, video/podcasts and photographs.
- Travel.State.Gov - Bureau of Consular Affairs
- The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs issues passports and provides travel alerts and travel warnings to inform citizens of safety issues when traveling abroad. You can also find contact information for embassies and consular offices by going to Country Specific Information - A -- Z Index of Topics - and either Consular Notification and Access for offices in the U.S., or Embassies -- U.S. Embassies / Consulates Overseas for international offices.
- U.S. Board on Geographic Names
- This federal site deals with the standardization of geographic names. Search the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) for physical and cultural geographic features. An example of a feature might be an airport, building, cemetery, church, lake, populated place, school, or stream. This site could be useful for verifying official geographic names and spellings along with the variants, finding latitude & longitude, and location by county and state. There are databases for both Domestic and Foreign Names and there are numerous maps that the feature can be linked to.
- U.S. Department of the Interior - National Park Service
- Use the Find a Park section to locate a National Park in the United States. The National Park System provides information on national areas that include more than just parks. You can also visit a National Battlefield, National Cemetery, National Historic Site, National Monument, National Seashore, or a National Trail.
- WorldWeb.com United States Travel & Tourism
- Search through a wealth of travel information about the United States. This is a very user friendly site providing detailed and comprehensive travel guides. Categories included are Events, Lodging, Rentals, Restaurants & Bars, Shopping, Sights, Tours & Activities, and Transportation.
